Adjacent to downtown San Jose, the Japantown Corporation Yard community will include
approximately 600 for-sale condominium homes and approximately 75 low-income apartments
for seniors. In addition to residential housing, there will also be 15,000-30,000 square
feet of retail, up to a 20,000-square-foot cultural space, and a new public park.
In keeping with our development philosophy, Japantown Corporation Yard will be a LEED
certified project, built to the standards for sustainability and smart growth set forth
by the U.S. Green Building Council.
Background
The development’s 5.4 acres are in the heart of Japantown. The land is currently owned
by the City of San Jose and was previously a facility for City maintenance operations. The
goal of the project is to transform this property into a valuable and vital addition to the
Japantown neighborhood, revitalizing the area and bringing in new housing, business and
vitality.
Affordable Housing Initiative
As a part of the development program, Williams & Dame Development is providing land and
$2,600,000 to First Community Housing for the development of affordable housing for
low-income seniors. This exciting project will help address the City’s affordable housing
requirements and help achieve the goal of creating an economically diverse community.
